10 minutes with TV presenter Angela Cid
09-06-2011 Comments (2)
Angela Cid was born in Barcelona and has been living in Marbella a few years already. She started in the fashion world as a model winning one of the beauty contests of Miss Catalunya in 1992, being finalist in Miss Spain Contest one year later. But where Angela Cid has found her real place is the world of communication.
She has been presenting different events, Gala Dinners, Golf Tournaments, Price Giving, Fashion Shows, and in both languages Spanish and English. She is fluent in 4 languages and she can reach many people with communication through her natural capabilities.
She had the honor to be the presenter in an opening ceremony with the assistance of S.A.R the Prince of Spain, with the assistance of 200 personalities from the most relevant businesses in the Nation as Telefónica CEO or Iberia Airlines Chairman. She is collaborating with some tv programs both local and nationwide and working also in the news section at national tv La10.
1. You have been living in Marbella for many years now, why did you choose this city to be your home?
It was destiny! I came here for a New Year's Party with a group of friends and I met my partner. At that time I was living in London and it was very difficult to change my residence in London for Marbella, but at the end love always wins and here I am 10 years and 3 kids later and very very happy. I wouldn't change Marbella for anything in the world.
2. You are considered one of the ladies of the Marbella's social life, do you like this role?
Hahaha … Do you think so? No, I really don't think I am, but is it true that I love to socialize with people. I am feeling very proud of the group of friends I have here, they make my life so much richer and I believe that Marbella has all the necessary ingredients for an active social life.
3. You have been elected Miss Cataluña in 1992? Would you encourage your daughter in the future to participate in a beauty pageant?
Honestly I would not. I don't have those good memories from the beauty contests. I prefer the fashion world. There I found my place and my modeling career brought me a lot of experiences and personal growth. I travelled all over the world and visited places that I could have never been to and thanks to my job as a model all this was possible. I´ve learnt 4 languages and got to know different cultures. My daughter will always have my support on anything she decides for her life. And if this is to be a model, then with all the previous experience and contacts I have in that industry I could give her advice.
4. As a mother of 3 children, is it difficult to cope between the family life and your job as a TV presenter?
It is always hard for a mother to combine the personal life with the professional one, but I think this is very common for all the parents nowadays, who have professional challenges. Personally, my family is always my priority.
5. What plans do you have in the future in television? And which TV will be broadcasting them?
Right now we are preparing a summer tv program in national Spanish channel La10, which will have 15 emissions in an agile format and which I´m involved from production, scripts and presentation. It will be produced in Madrid at the end of the month and will be broadcasted during summer, dates still due to decide depending on the Channel´s contents.
6. What are your dreams and ambitions?
Personally none, professional-wise many…. We should never stop dreaming otherwise we don´t feel alive. I am living a very moment of my life, where I feel like achieving new professional targets, a moment where I'm learning every day and a moment where I know where I want to work is in tv. I want to be able to develop all my passion for communication.
7. What has been your best and your worst moment on television?
My best moment in television is still to come; I hope I can have the opportunity to show all my skills and all my preparation in front of the cameras. There are no bad moments when you do what you like and any bad moment becomes positive when you learn something out of it.
8. Who do you consider a TV Guru nowadays?
With no doubt Oprah Winfrey - she is my idol, my example to follow. She is a fighter, she started from nothing without any resources, without preparation, she made herself the one she is nowadays, always staying loyal to her principles. She is the first woman that will have her own tv channel and who will never forget her roots. She uses her image and time to involve in many charities and everything she wants to achieve she does it. As a communicator she crosses the screens and has a lot of credibility making many people happy.
9. Who has it easier in the world of television, men or women?
Maybe women have a harder time, because there is more competition and a higher requirement level. A woman has to fight always against the topics, pretty women equals dump. Also aging is a negative factor in tv for women, the more older the less opportunities they get, while for men it is never negative, the older the better.
10. And finally, how do you spend your free time in Marbella?
I don't have much free time though, and the one I have I always spend it with my family and my kids. But when I can I spend some time enjoying a healthy life, I always find time to do sports and to look for natural products. My last best investment is a baking bread machine. Every morning, we make fresh bread at home with all natural ingredients - delicious.. I highly recommend it!!
