Manuel Spinosa (33) is a jewelry designer and manufacturer, who is originally from Tarragoa, Cataluna, but has lived on the coast for 5 years. When you look at Manuel Spinosa's jewelry designs, you can be sure you're in for an amazing treat. His works are stunning and memorable. Read about his life on the coast below.
What brought you to the area?
I came to visit some of family living in Benalmadena and discovered the charm of Marbella.
Do you have a favourite area or part of the coast?
I love the old town Marbella, the port "Marina" in Benalmadena and the Marbella montain.
What attracts you most about the southern Spanish lifestyle besides the climate?
What I love about her is the sympathy of the people in the South. They are very hospitable and I think that is an area of opportunity as well.
Where were you educated?
I studied in art school for jewelry design and gemology later in Barcelona, microfusion and diamond setting.
Please tell us about your background in fine arts and jewelry design.
I have been fortunate to be born in a family, who makes jewelry. So after my studies I could practice in the my family store to test my knowledges and perfect them. What other skills do you have? If you had to choose an another profession, what would it be? I'm good at painting, creating and dancing. If I had to choose another profession, I would choose one that is related to innovation, creativity and design. What have been some of your favorite jewelry pieces you've created and why? The jewel that I like is a pendant-shaped like a chess piece and also watch as Daly deformed. This pendant is undertaken as the final exam of the course and I have much affection for it. Do you still keep them or who wears them now? The school has the jewelry piece to remember me as a good student. Where do you get your inspiration? In everything! It is very easy for me, I can make jewelry with animal designs, minimalistic or gothic ones. If you see the different forms we have around us, you can get lots of ideas. Can you name some celebrities who wear your designs? I make jewellery for very important people in Spain and also other parts in the world for example: Miss Ireland- Louise Doheny, televion presenter: Saeko Hamada, Helena Olaya and Karen Santamaria, Miss Malaga: Zaloa and Miss Tarragona: Victoria Huvermann. What other projects are you working on this spring? I´m preparing new "Watches by Manuel Spinosa" to be distributed in Spain and I´m working so hard in the boutiques for Franchise expansion national and international. Describe a few ways how you spend your free time here? I don't have much free time to spend, but I do socialize and spend time with my family. Do you have any time for hobbies? Yes, I like to go to the gym, play golf, go dancing and of course to the beach. Do you go for a holiday to any other destinations now that you have relocated to a luxury resort? If so, where and why? I don´t like the resorts that much. I prefer big citys like Milan, Roma, New York, London, Beijing etc. I go for holidays too, but in the big cities I can find new ideas and a lot of information for my designs. Name a few of your favourite restaurants or cafes here and what attracts you to them? Why these places? I like Terra Sana longe, because it is right in front of my store and it is very comfortable for me to go there. Also the Venecia restaurant, because it is the best for tapas. Very good international food is at the Sol y Luna, Puente Romano has the best forn pizzas and after dinner the Suite, because I love to go dancing there. Do you have any favourite events that take place on the coast? And why? Yes, my favourite was my fashion show at Villapadierna Luxury Hotel. The event was fantastic with very important people like Antonia de Latte and also a magnificent Opera singer performed. The most important is, that with this charity event together with the Lion's Club, we helped the children. Will you organize an event somewhere soon? What exactly is being planned? In August I have one very important event in the bullring Banús with one spanish singer, plus a horse show. What is good to do in springtime in Marbella? I recommend to enjoy the quality of life of Marbella: beach, golf, shopping, restaurants, disco, relax and buy jewelry. What is the most memorable moments that you have had living in Marbella? The most memorable moment was when I opened my own store. For more information go to www.spinosajewellery.com
