10 minutes with businessman Nicolas Di
14-06-2010 Comments (3)Nicolas Di (40) is a businessman, who deals with Led lights. I-Marbella found out more about him and his life on the sunny coast.
What brought you to the area?
I came here because my family came here for summer vacations. I was only 6 weeks old, when my parents brought me to area. Where were you educated? I went to Milfield in England and then studied university in Florida, where I studied commercial art. Do you have a favourite area or part of the coast? Yes, my front line beach property near Gibraltar. What attracts you most about the southern Spanish lifestyle besides the climate? Besides the weather I like the local friendly people. You deal with Led lights. What are they exactly and where are they used? Yes, we have been in business since 1958, when we started in the Electron Valves. I also own a piece of Audio Value equipment. We started to sell LEDs in the 1970s. There are few advantages to light fixtures and light bulbs using LED technology. The LED lighting can save electricity, it is non-contaminant and lasts approximately 50 000 hours. We have been testing some lights in Taiwan, which have been on for the last 5 years/24hours a day and this year they will achieve the 50 000 hours of use. The LED lights do not give off IR or UV emissions. We have agents in many parts of the world, from Spain and Switzerland in Europe to Oman in the Middle East and Panama in South America. We are proud to say that we are adding new agents to represent the nam
e of Micronetics in the world. Do you have any free time for hobbies? Yes, I like buggi racing, driving, paddle, laser games and PS3. Do you go for a holiday to any other destinations now that you have relocated to a luxury resort? The most romantic places are in Oman. There is place called the Al-Bustan Palace, where you can dine on a private beach with your evening gown or tuxedo, but have your feet in the water. And all of the staff will serve you in the water. The second place to go would be Haiti. I was there on 1989 and I saw the most amazing sunset. Name a few of your favourite clubs, restaurants or cafes here and what attracts you to them? I like to go to Olivia valerie, Nikki Beach, Magna, MC Cafe, Sushi des Artistes and Nuevo Reino. What is your favourite drink? I don't drink alcohol. My favorite drink is ice tea. What are your plans for this summer
? Most of the summer I hope to spend in Marbella, but I will also be travelling a fair amount, because my agents are all around the world. I will also be involved in some charity work in Marbella and elsewhere, as I have been doing this activity since 1998. What is the biggest amount that you have spend at a party? No comments on the amount, but what I can say is that it was in Ocean Club, when I organized the Wet T-shirt contest on 2008. I might organise another Wet T-shirt contest again. What is the most memorable moments that you have had in Marbella? The Halloween in Olivia Valere. I was dressed as Batman and after drinking ice tea for 5 hours, I had to go back to my hotel. Once I got upstairs I had to ask someone from reception to liberate me out of the costume. (Have you ever seen Batman going to save someone and say "One moment I need to pee! I will be right back to come and save you!") Since there was no front zip so I had to ask someone to open the costume from behind so that I could use the restroom.
